Mission Accomplished

This will be my last post. My breast cancer journey is now complete, with my last phase of reconstruction done. Dr. D. in NOLA, you are a miracle worker and an artist!! Thank you. I truly have been restored and feel incredible (and normal). I didn't think it would be possible to be whole again. I started this blog to help keep my friends and family "abreast" of treatment and news related to my breast cancer diagnosis in 2008. It's been 4-1/2 years now and I am so very lucky to be alive and well. While I fear a recurrence, there is no evidence of that possiblity currently. Like the oncologists like to say, "you are cancer free as far as we know at this time" aka NED (no evidence of disease). I will continue to get check-ups and appreciate my wonderful medical team. Thank you for the YSC and my survivor sisters. I would have been lost without them, bonds have been forged. Thank you to all of my friends and family. You have been amazing and have walked the walk with me. Strength is the beauty that remains. Live fully. xxoo

Third Time is a Charm

I am all settled in and ready for my 8:00 a.m. surgery. I am really looking forward to being completely done with reconstruction. My mom is here in New Orleans with me. We had some time today to venture out. We visited the Oak Alley and Laura plantations, both very cool. I miss Austin and my kids, can't wait to return home Tuesday night. Thank you for all the good thoughts.

Appointment with Oncologist

I saw my oncologist today. Lymphedema on the left side is the only concern right now and it's minor. I don't need any scans. I'm basically good to go for now. I got the standard "as far as we know at this time there is no evidence of disease". I'll take it! I see him again in eight months.

January 14, 2008

Four years ago today I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I am thankful to be alive and well! I am extremely thankful for my friends, family, doctors and all of the people who have supported me along the way. Peace, love and health to you and yours now and in the coming year.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Noobs

I'm very happy with my "noobs". The girls are lookin' good and everything has healed well. The doctor offered to do a minor scar revision and some additional shaping on the right side. It's a new year with a new deductible, so I've just started the process to schedule stage three. It will be a very small surgery and quick recovery compared all of the others.

Almost to Four Years

January 14th is my "cancerversary", the day I was diagnosed back in 2008. The further I get away from that date the better my odds are. I feel great and love the idea of kicking cancer's butt!
